Ever since the 9th grade I have used this "blue" shampoo (which is really more of a purple hue) that is meant to keep the brassiness out of color treated blonde hair. About a year ago was the first time I was ever told it had actually tinted my hair purple! At first I was alarmed and turned off a bit by it (most likely because of the tone my dear auntie had informed in), but the more I looked in the mirror, the more I liked what I saw. I guess I'm not the only one.
My favorite runway looks for SS2010, Proenza Schouler, also incorporated this new 'do, along with Valentino's SS2010 ad campaign. The only problem is, who can pull off this "My Little Pony" look in the real world? Lucky for me, Coachella is quickly approaching, and I definitely plan on rocking the lavender blonde...even if it is only temporary.
My 83yo mother always used the expression "lavender blonde" and it was a shade of blonde actually, I think possibly that Summer Sand shade but I can't be too sure- anyway, it MEANT something but I don't think it had the meaning it has today to actually put purple highlights into the hair- I will have to ask my mother if she possibly remembers!
